Stopping by to give you proof of life and thank you for your patience. <3

After losing my dog Han in February I went into some kind of mostly-benign Trigun-themed psychosis. I think it’s finally losing its hold on me… now that I’ve finished writing an anonymous 40,000 word fanfic. I did feel bad about taking a break from thinking about Black Magic for the first time in over ten years, but some good things came out of it: I published a story where other people could read and interact with it, and the reception has been positive. I actually wrote an ending for the first time.

It’s a sore spot for me that I’ve never finished an entire first draft of Black Magic. Okay, technically I did finish a first draft of book one back in 2016. It’s the resolution of the whole story that still only lives in my brain as an amorphous blob of possibilities that are roughly plot-shaped.

I’m working on pages 31 & 32. Let’s find out together if fixating on Trigun for 3 months has permanently altered my art style!

Comic Test Panel – 2026 Update

smiling Ben standing below the edge of a Metro platform, saying "You can come with me." I started messing with this and it turned into a lighting test for this scene. The first time I drew this panel… was NINE YEARS AGO. D:
A worse version of the previous image.
I did not even try to draw his hair back then. Very little character design either. I was struggling hard enough just to make his face look like a face.

Banner Art Update

Black Magic banner with shadowy creatures, main characters, and dragons. I think I opened this file a few days ago intending to fix Lex’s arm. From there things got out of hand, as they do. Painting on the cintiq is so easy it makes me feel like an anime character who just revealed I was fighting with weights on my arms until now. Ben is as tall as Ella because he’s standing on a box. Have some bonus Me Posing As Lex.
Of course this also means I’ll have to fix the cover art I last updated in 2023. 😮‍💨
